China has entered a new era of social and economic development. The training of graduate students in applied economics must be aimed at the knowledge-based economy and the innovative talents needed in the open era. We should follow the law of education, combine the goal orientation theory, and analyze the goal orientation of the optimization of the postgraduate training mechanism in applied economics. Through the guidance of the orientation of the discipline support, the orientation of the social needs, the guidance of the training of the students' innovation ability and the guidance of the training of the students' professional ability we scientifically and rationally set up the training mechanism for the master graduate students in applied economics to realize the scientific, application, pertinence, level and openness of the training mechanism and to realize the unity of the closed and open nature of the training mechanism. It is the organic integration of the relative stability of the culture mechanism and the dynamics of the training mechanism.
