由于社会生产生活方式、思维方式和历史环境的不同,造成了中国传统历史观与西方的差异。在中国,思想家们持圣王立国论,视历史存在和发展为稳定、持久的过程,视历史发展为循环的过程;在西方,思想家们持社会契约论,视历史为偶然性的堆积,历史的“异体替代”使西方倾向于视历史为进化发展的趋向。

Due to their differences in such domains ads material life,historical traditions and mode of thinking,there exist great differences between China and the West in their in their conceptions of history,i, e. the conflict between the Chinese thory of "Ruling the country by a sage King "and view the existence and development of history as a long and steady process. However,they tend to commit the fallacy of cycylical view of history. Western scholars,at the other hand,advocate the theory of Social Contract and view the history ad a kind of evolution due to the fact that in shaping the western history,many a nation has played a key role.
