民主制来源于古希腊,而批判民主的传统最早可追溯到柏拉图。柏拉图批判民主制度的原因在于民主制特有的"自由"和"平等"两大特质扰乱了政治秩序和灵魂秩序,通过败坏人的德性从而阻碍国家的正义和个人的正义。柏拉图对民主制度的批判中折射出理性与自由的矛盾、少数人与多数人之间的矛盾即国家与个人的矛盾,为现当代民主制度的健康发展提供了很好的借鉴。

  • Democracy is celebrated as"the greatest political creation", but it was disputed for a long time in history. As we know, democracy wasoriginated in ancient Greece, and the tradition of critiquing democracy can also be traced back to Plato. Plato's critique of democracy arises fromhis idea that"freedom"and"equality", the two key characteristics of democracy, disturb the order of policy and soul and hinder the national andindividual justice by destroying man's virtues. Plato's critique reflects the conflict between rationality and freedom, minority and majority, i.e.,nation and individuals, and provides a good reference to promote the development of modern and contemporary democracy.
