  • dc.description.abstract
  • Meng Meng's proposition that"man might die of shame"implies the significance of political philosophy about "nation and destiny",which is definitely beyond a piece of abstract and beautiful writing. "Shame"in Genesis has the literal meaning that corresponds to nakedness while its implication puts emphasis on the primordial relationship with the earth, namely the call for the obedience of the Providence embodied in God's creation and the consequence as a result of the disobedience of the Providence. It is the autonomous knowledge which human being pursues that "opens his eyes". It enables human being to see through the nakedness of the others the shameful situation that the incident of the Fall has brought forth to the human life. Man feels shameful not for his nakedness but his betrayal of the divine commandment. Hence the Jews are supposed to repent and restore back to the primordial shame.
